The airport hotel cluster is the hotels at Schiphol, Schiphol-Rijk and Schiphol-Oost, used for late arrivals and early flights, served by arrangement.
First-time visitors are often surprised to find that the hotel they booked near Amsterdam Airport is not in Amsterdam's centre at all. It belongs to a separate group of buildings around the airport, referred to here as the airport hotel cluster. Some stand a short walk from the arrivals hall; others are reached by a free shuttle and sit among offices and car parks.
Which places belong to it
Only three names count: Schiphol itself, Schiphol-Rijk to the south and Schiphol-Oost to the east. Hotels beyond them are not covered. If your confirmation email gives a different place name, mention it in the message and the house will tell you straight away whether the address can be served.
How a booking there differs
Three things change. Timing is arranged with the journey time agreed first rather than taken from the city's forty to sixty minutes. Every booking there carries a deposit. And the rooms tend to be compact and well insulated, with good showers and heavy curtains, which suits a slow format. The rates do not change.
